Velos Youth provides safe space and supported accommodation in central Athens, for young people aged 16-23 years old. A range of basic, material and specialist support services are also offered, to help children and young people re-start and rebuild their lives.
Our space offers basic services such as showers, laundry, and specialist services covering mental health, housing, protection, education and employment. We also facilitate access to state-run services, as well as those delivered by partner NGOs.
Within our space a varied program of activities centred around wellbeing, social development and informal education is offered, fostering feelings of belonging, self-worth, empowerment and community.

We are a relaxed and welcoming safe place for young people to come during the day – they don’t need papers, they don’t need to register, and they know they can be themselves here.
During the day, young people can engage with our supportive team. The most in need or at-risk young people receive 1:1 support from experienced social workers, who work with them to identify their most urgent needs.
Overall, we provide young people with information and resources so they have better knowledge and understanding of the issues directly affecting their personal safety and how to seek help. This involves working with the young people to make sure they have a clear understanding of their legal situation and know how to apply for asylum, as well as the risks attributed to having no documentation. We also provide information and guidance about access to secure housing and a number of temporary housing solutions.
